Bits of Sweetness: Superhero Summer Fun

Superhero Summer Fun

It's almost like that magical word just hits during summer (you know the one: the b-o-r-e-d word.) I like to encourage our kids to be creative as much as I can, so activities often have endless possibilities (read: lots of playtime). Lately they've been big on saving the world. It's kindof hard to be full-superhero without a full-superhero cape though! So, enter in creativity and a little hot glue.

It's pretty simple to make and you won't even have to break out a needle and thread.
Get 1/2 a yard of fabric & ribbon the length of the material,
plus a few extra inches for the ends to tie.
Grab your hot glue gun & heat.
Put your ribbon about 2 inches down from the seam.
Fold edge over and glue down

Tada!
Summer fun under $5? Check!

My kids like to play the super hero part often. One way we've been honing into their superhero sense and having them help at home is by putting them in charge of certain jobs they can do wearing this fun cape. Things like refilling the toilet paper roll, sweeping, and steam mopping the kitchen floor are on their weekly lists. We locked up their electronics so they can't just have screen time whenever (So mean, I know) It's been neat to see them really taking pride in hard work and seeing how important it is to be part of our family. Hard work is rewarded with fun time together and sometimes, can earn a set amount of screen time. It makes my heart glad to hear them asking what jobs they can do. (What?! Really?! Yes!)

Having multiple kids means some things need bought often! This is one we seem to be putting on our list every time (I mean, it makes sense with kids' sense of "enough" being hilariously long sometimes!") I think the kids secretly just want the tube inside for all their superhero play! Our guinea pigs are pretty happy with that part too though so it duals as a job feeding them. Smart cookies!

The last time we were at Walmart, we stocked up (which, was easy to do with the new bigger 4 in 1 size!) Andrew spotted it first for me!

Our kids love these because they're easy to grab, soft-yet-strong and right now you can get $1 back on them with Ibotta here! They listened to their customers and made some that would help you #neverrunout (Well, or close to at least!)

I just found out there is grocery pickup too. I'm going to have to check it out sometime. Saving my sanity is always good! Now to just teach my kids to not get out three rolls at a time to save even more sanity!

Seriously though, I am so proud of our kids! They have really grown a lot lately and it's awesome to give them opportunities even with little things like toilet paper to step up and take a little more responsibility (and have fun doing it!)

What are your kids loving lately? What jobs do you have them do or remember doing at their age?
